The Diagnostic Radiology Department excitedly awaits the upcoming arrival of Siemens Medical advanced Solutions’ all-in-one PET/CT scanner, the Biograph Trinion EP2, which is expected to land at AUBMC by March 2026.
Designed to accommodate the growing demands of molecular imaging, the Biograph Trinion fully integrates PET, CT, and syngo.via software, offering cutting-edge diagnostic image quality, speed, and dose reduction. The Biograph Trinion has a compact, forward-looking, and sustainable design, making it less costly to upgrade and adaptable to clinical and technological demands.
At the core of the Biograph Trinion is a new, air-cooled, scalable, LSO-based digital detector with an outstanding spatial resolution of 2.2 millimeters and an ultrarapid performance of 239 picoseconds, boosting sensitivity up to 128 counts per second per kilobecquerel. These high capabilities enable small lesion detectability, lower radiation doses, and faster scanning.
Focusing on patient wellbeing, the Biograph Trinion cuts down procedure time by more than half, while providing a wider ring with a flared bore design, a customizable patient moodlight, camera, and a built-in continuous bed motion to ensure comfort. The Biograph Trinion also allows technicians to conduct completely digital total-body (head-to-toe) scans in just 10 minutes, which is a step forward from normal, longer head-to-pelvis or head-to-upper-thigh acquisitions.
Apart from speed, the machine’s capacity to detect smaller lesions indicates an improved disease staging—i.e., detecting diseases at earlier stages—which helps physicians evaluate treatment options and adjust disease management accordingly.
The Biograph Trinion’s intelligent imaging covers oncology, cardiology, and neurology, heralding a new era in Alzheimer’s disease detection. It is also equipped with dedicated AI-based features and myExam Companion interface to support faster, more personalized, and more accurate exams.
